The SOG Swedge I makes use of the trademarked BESH Wedge blade geometry invented by custom knife designer and maker Brent Beshara. Backed by Beshara's experience as a Canadian military operator, Special Forces member, and martial artist, this unique wedge-shaped blade design delivers superior tip strength for increased reliability.
The Swedge I's 3.7-inch blade is crafted from strong AUS-8 stainless steel, and its grind lines are different from the grind lines on knives of any other shape, providing sharp, functional edges that work with the knife's overall design to make your life easier.
Cryogenic Heat Treatment for a Sharp, Dependable Blade
SOG's unique cryogenic heat treatment process increases the toughness and wear resistance of the blade. The blade's temperature is slowly taken down to less than -300 degrees Fahrenheit and then slowly brought back up to room temperature. This stress relieves the material on an atomic level and increases overall strength and edge retention. This means the knife edge stays sharp longer with significantly less micro-fracturing and edge-chipping.
Strong, Full Tang G10 Handle Delivers Nonslip Grip
All SOG Swedge knives offer a full tang handle design, which improves the balance of the knife and adds strength and durability for heavy-duty, long-term use. And, thanks to the nonslip G10 material that makes up the rest of the Swedge's handle, you can count on a secure grip for safe, accurate cuts in all sorts of weather conditions.
G10 is a durable, reinforced material made up of fiberglass soaked in resin, then highly compressed and baked. This process makes it impervious to liquid and physically stable under extreme changes in temperature, which makes your Swedge knife an ideal long-term partner on tough missions.
